Michelle Kalkowski (Shelly), Secretary
Shelly Kalkowski has resided in Fort Collins since 2001. Shelly was a volunteer librarian at the Zach Elementary School library from 2003 through 2006. Before moving to Fort Collins, Shelly spent 21 years in the United States Air Force, where she worked extensively as a contract manager. She retired from service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Prior to her military career, Shelly spent her time as a reporter, editor and a manager for several Northwest and Midwest regional newspapers. In addition to being a volunteer librarian since she retired, she has been a leader of a local Junior Girl Scout Troup since 2001.
Shelly earned a bachelor's degree in Home Economics-Journalism from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She also attained her master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
"Libraries allow me to indulge my life-long passion for reading - and to share that passion with others. As a Library Trustee, I owe it to my fellow taxpayers to use our tax dollars efficiently and effectively while providing library services we truly want and need."
