An Author Search will search for:
- People as authors.
- Organizations as authors.
- Composers.
- Performers.
- Directors.
- Producers.
- Illustrators.
- Artists
This search will return an alphabetical list of authors. Type as much or as little of the AUTHOR'S NAME as you want, with individual names LAST NAME first. For example:
- alvarez, julia
- Harrison J
- madonna
- Smithsonian Institution
Incorrect spelling will return a list which may not include the author you are searching. If you are unsure of the spelling of the author's name, type as much as you are sure of (ex: type 'Grish' for John Grisham).
When to Use Author Searching
You can use Author searching when you are sure of the exact author of a book, video, CD, etc., and you are fairly sure of how to spell it. You may also wish to use an author search when you want to narrow your search and find fewer items than you found with a keyword search.
